Aerosmith pair Steve Tyler and Joe Perry have both now given their version of events in Toronto, when the guitarist appeared to bump the frontman off the stage.
Blabbermouth report that Tyler felt Perry went a little too far: “I had bumped into Joe. I kind of strafe him — that’s what we do night after night. We’ve done it for 40 years. In return, he gave me a hit that I feel was a bit out of place. Facing forward, I was able to jump off and grab peoples’ shoulders, and it was fine. I got right back up. I don’t know what he was thinking. He’s Joe Perry”.
Inevitably, Perry sees things a little differently: “If you watch the film, he backed into me hard. And I was also standing on the edge. All I did was brush against him. Basically he had a choice: He could have kept his balance and not gone into the audience, or he could have dropped in, which he did. None of it was planned — it’s a contact sport. The week before, he hit me over the head with a mic stand. But did you read anything about that?”

Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce the signing of New Haven, CT black metal band IPSISSIMUS. The band inked a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records and will be entering Sonic Environments studio in Bloomfield, CT to record their first full-length album and Metal Blade debut. Longtime friend of His Emissary, Jeff Weed, is not only the owner of Sonic Environments studio but has also stepped in as the band’s “sonic alchemist” (aka engineer/producer). IPSISSIMUS began recording in June 2010 and are taking a short break before returning to Sonic Environments studio in early September to finish the record. Their feature full-length will include the band’s EP Three Secrets of Fatima along with three new songs.
IPSISSIMUS drummer Haimatokharmes comments; “Metal Blade is a label that has been home to artists brutal, technical, filthy, blasting, wildly successful, and, most importantly, unique. Ipsissimus is very proud to join this family, and looks forward to adoring the Goat with them by producing ritual black metal that is truly ipsissima!”
“A 3 piece black metal symphony that is at the forefront of the American Black Metal movement… IPSISSIMUS is technical yet punishing, perfect for Metal Blade Records and fans of our brand of metal,” adds Michael Faley, President of Metal Blade Records.

According to the bio on her website, the Commander in Chief (CIC) is a viking goddess from a remote and dangerous place on earth, where even the deepest fjords freeze to ice. She could speak with whales at age four, and killed her first polar bear at age six. We highly doubt some of those claims, but according to her singing teacher and manager, Elisabeth Hagen, she has lived in several different countries.
What we do not doubt, however, is that the Commander in Chief is no less than a double threat to the metal world. Not only can she sing her ass off, and I mean sing (she is classically trained in opera with a vocal range of D3 to B6), and hit notes so high that glass shatters and dogs look at each other and go “what the fuck,” this 21-yr old Norwegian born shredder mangles the fretboard of her 7 string Ibanez RG 7620 with untapped ability and lightning speed. Along with several years of self education, the CIC has trained with Ramon Ortiz (Ankla, Puya), Martin Goulding (Guitar Techniques and ICMP London) and Christy Calabro (Brett Michaels).
Her latest offering, the six song EP, ‘Battle For The Mind’, was mastered by Brian Gardner (Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, 50 Cent, Lady Gaga, 2Pac). She spent almost a year secluded from the world working on artist development and her music before recording in LA with major label producer Eric Greedy (Hurt).

EVILE, who recently won a coveted Metal Hammer Golden Gods award, are writing the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2009 album, INFECTED NATIONS. The band announce that they will once again be working with producer RUSS RUSSELL.
EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE comments:
“We’re well on our way into writing the material for Evile’s third album now. We’ve been playing around with the odd part and riffs since ‘Infected Nations’ came out in 2009. I have about ten song ideas which are being built on daily, but not going to stop there. We’re not going to limit ourselves this time to a certain number of songs. We’re just going to write until it’s time to give up and go into pre-production. We’ve been sending tracks/recordings/ideas back and forth between ourselves, Russ Russell and our management (Wiseblood) and there’s an excellent vibe going.
“I don’t want this to be a typical ‘new album’ update using the same descriptions and words most bands use to big up an album, so I’ll just say the new stuff is really getting my blood boiling and my heart racing. We’ve been through a lot over the past year, and it’s being naturally reflected in the music which is coming out. I’ve never been as passionate as I am now about writing the best material we can. With Joel in the mix, and him being a die-hard thrash fan since the ’80s, I’m looking forward to see how this will turn out. Keep an eye on our website for more details, and come catch us on one of the 77 shows in September-December in North America! (If you don’t see me I’ll be busy riffing for the benefit of your ears.)”

Since news on Nergal’s recent health issues has been released, the band, management, and label has received an overwhelming response from fans and bands all over the world asking how they can directly help Nergal. In response to everyone offering his or her help in terms of setting up benefits and shows to raise money for the frontman of the Polish blackened death metal band BEHEMOTH, Nergal has issued the following statement:
“I haven’t intended to manifest myself in any way and, especially at this stage, to share my feelings or any other news with the world for obvious reasons. It is simply too early for it. But it was YOU who provoked me to say a few words. Regarding my personal low opinion of humankind, I’m shocked by the reaction to my illness. I actually expected NOTHING yet received feedback which surpassed all expectations. I want to ensure you I read EACH mail I receive, although I’m unable to reply to all of them. The power of your words is pure magic and I thank you all for it. You are a gigantic indestructible army that truly inspires me in this difficult time. The fact is that a fight with this illness is going to last for many months. Most of this time I will spend in hospital and I will go through various psychophysical states. If you know the history of Behemoth you also know we achieved everything by hard work and a steely determination. The same goes for my private life. I happen to be a strong son of a bitch. I have no faith but rely on a 100% victory and I am sure I will get out of it stronger than ever. Sun Tzu in his ‘Art of War’ said that if you know your enemy and yourself the result of a thousand battles will not surprise you… I enter the ring with this Nietzschean attitude and I will leave it as a winner, as usual. Just watch and see!
