ORANGE GOBLIN: First New Songtitles Revealed
| Filed under: News | May 6th, 2009 | By: KK |

British doomsters ORANGE GOBLIN have issued the following update:
“Songwriting for the next ORANGE GOBLIN album is ongoing but looks very promising with the skeletons of four or five new songs already in place. Two rough working titles for the new songs so far include ‘Red Tide Rising’ and ‘The Bishop’s Wolf’.”
ORANGE GOBLIN previously announced that it had postponed the recording sessions for the band’s new album “due to unforeseen circumstances.” According to the group, “complications beyond the band’s control have meant that we have fallen behind schedule with the writing process and a decision was made to put the recording back to ensure that we deliver the best album possible. [Producer] Sanford Parker [NACHTMYSTIUM, LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR, PELICAN, RWAKE, UNEARTHLY TRANCE, VENOMOUS CONCEPT, MINSK, BURIED AT SEA] will still be in the producer’s chair when we do hit the studio. We apologize to the fans, but can assure them that it will be worth the wait!”

STARRING JANET LEIGH: New Song Posted Online
| Filed under: News | May 6th, 2009 | By: KK |

Toronto, Ontario, Canada’s STARRING JANET LEIGH has posted a new song, “Mistress”, on the band’s MySpace page. The track comes off the group’s debut full-length album, “Spectrum”, which is scheduled for release on May 12 via Ironclad Recordings (Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH’s label). The CD was recorded in June and September 2007 with producer/engineer Greg Dawson of BWC Studios, who has previously worked with MARE (Hydrahead), THE END (Relapse), MONEEN (Vagrant) and many others. Mastering of “Spectrum” was handled by Alan Douches at West West Side who has worked with CONVERGE, THE END, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, MASTODON, UNEARTH, and NILE, just to name a few.
“Compared with previous songs written, the cohesion and understandability of our music has allowed us to push the level of intensity and technicality to new levels while still maintaining a very listenable and atmospheric presence,” comments guitarist Matthew Zadkovich. “We hope that listeners will be able to take away something new each and every time they listen to the album, while still knowing and feeling the songs as they did the first time they were heard.”

QUEENSRŸCHE Plays Unique Shows For ‘American Soldier’ Tour
| Filed under: News | May 6th, 2009 | By: KK |
Gary Graff of Billboard.com reports: QUEENSRŸCHE fans can expect some sort of commercial documentation — a live album or DVD, perhaps — from what’s turned into a special tour in support of the group’s new concept album, “American Soldier”.
“We do that every tour, film and record,” frontman Geoff Tate — whose wife, Susan, manages QUEENSRŸCHE — tells Billboard.com. “You never know when you’re going to need something at some point. Usually when we stop and get home and have some time to reflect on the project and look at footage and see what we have, then we make a decision about what we might do with it.”

OBSCURA Drops Off ‘Relapse Contamination Tour’ due to illness
| Filed under: News | May 6th, 2009 | By: KK |

Due to illness, death metallers OBSCURA have been forced to cancel the remaining dates of their North American tour. The Relapse Contamination Tour will continue on through May 10, with Relapse labelmates GRAVES OF VALOR and appearances on select dates from BRUTAL TRUTH and HERO DESTROYED.
Commented OBSCURA vocalist/guitarist Steffen Kummerer: “Several nights ago, after struggling with illness throughout this tour, I’ve lost my singing voice entirely and can barely speak. At this juncture, it’s best for me to rest rather than deliver anything less than exceptional performances. For all the cities we’ll miss, we’ll be back in the winter to make up these dates. Thanks to everyone who made our first North American Tour so amazing. We’re looking forward to returning again in the winter.”
